5 Tips for your Wedding Day

1. Be prepared for the Worst

I hate to say it- but what if it rains and your wedding is outdoors? Do you or your venue have a backup plan? Do you have tents? Umbrellas? We’re never afraid to photograph in the rain, so don’t worry about us!

2. Venue Lighting

When hiring a photographer, make sure they have used flash before hiring them to take photos in a dark place (usually the reception). Flash is totally different from natural light, so they need to be experienced in this. This is most common in getting ready and reception areas.

3. DON'T STRESS

I know, this is easy to do and not so much to do. But I PROMISE. It will all turn out magically.

Fun Fact! Most weddings we attend are behind on their timeline. This generally isn’t a photography issue but moreso getting ready times. It just happens! You start out with 6 hours thinking it’s a ton of time and before you look down again at your watch, it’s time to go to the ceremony!

Remember that the wedding won’t start without you 😉

4. Make a timeline

I would absolutely love to help my clients with a timeline if they need it. Ask your photographer, as they should know the approximate time for everything on wedding day. Taking getting ready photos, the first look, the ceremony, family photos, romantics, and the reception, all pretty much have the same timeline per wedding. To make a timeline, start with the time you have the venue rented and the ceremony time, then fill in the empty spaces! It is your photographer's job to follow this timeline and not elongate photo times and interrupt other planned activities.

5. Get Catering!

The number 1 thing I see brides forget on their wedding day - EATING!

I myself almost passed out as I was getting ready because 6 hours in and I forgot….to eat! What the heck Nicole!

Schedule catering to come in from your favorite restaurant. If you’re going for something simpler, get some fruit trays or a charcuterie tray made (or DIY) so you have something to snack on! Getting ready usually takes 3-6 hours on average between doing hair/makeup for everyone, so be prepared!
