Emily + BJ | Cummins Falls Waterfall Elopement Day-After Session

What is a day-after session for an elopement?

Elopements and intimate weddings sometimes last more than one day. Sometimes they’re all weekend or sometimes they’re a day and a half. The day-after session option is actually the most popular add-on for our couples. It’s a great way to continue to celebrate your wedding weekend.

Why? Well, it’s the first time that you get to celebrate you and your lover after getting married, when the moment hits you and you go, “Wait. I’m actually MARRIED NOW?!” So to celebrate, we celebrate in the best way ever - a FUN session that explores somewhere that you absolutely love and are dying to go visit.

The day-after sessions usually last at least an hour and can be longer depending on our adventure that day. This adventure was at Cummins Falls State Park, in Cookeville, TN (where Nicole and Justin actually live, funny enough).

It is one of the most epic waterfalls in Tennessee, as you can hike to it with a short, but adventurous hike, and then swim in the watering hole and climb in the falls as well.

Emily + BJ chose this waterfall because they had never actually been here before, so they wanted the adventure.

Cummins Falls, Cookeville TN

If you know about Cummins Falls already, you know:

  1. It’s busy and popular

  2. It’s a hike - not bad but about a mile of going up river and over big rocks

  3. It’s huge and glorious

So keep that in mind. We had a puppy with us this session that was too little so we carried her to the waterfall through the hike as she couldn’t handle the big rock jumping yet.

And then we find out that Emily has a BROKEN TOE! She didn’t even say anything except that her toe was sore. WHAT A BADASS. We literally found this out the day after and was shocked to say the least. I can’t even imagine walking Cummins Falls on a broken toe much less skipping across huge rocks.

How did you not get people in photos?

If you’ve seen our work in more populated US national park areas you know that there’s probably people there, yet you never see them in the photos that we produce. Why?

We have a few tricks up our sleeve to avoid crowds and people in photos where they shouldn’t be.

Most of the time we can hide people behind the couple. If not, than we can look for alternate angles and locations in the area that work just as well.

If not, you best bet that we edit them out to make your pictures perfect.
